Art in cocreation - Tapis Partie
Art in co-creation, but slightly different
Art in co-creation is a project in which community centers allow an artist to reside in their home for six months. They collaborate on the conception and development of a work of art.
De Rinck has been a member of Anderlecht's “Art for the Very Young” working group for several years. Here, we have already seen the added value of the presence of artworks and artists in crèches and kindergardens. We wanted to deepen this experience by taking a longer route with the same artist. The people who helped to determine the artwork are babies and toddlers, specifically between 0 and 3 years old.
The choice of the artist
Artists could respond with a proposal to our extensive call for projects. Numerous proposals were received and evaluated in several stages.
The committee chose Katrien Oosterlinck, who combines forms and materials with sounds and soundscapes. Her enthusiasm for working with babies and toddlers in her own unique way was the decisive factor in choosing her project.

Tapis Partie: the concept
From February to May, Katrien traveled to crèches, nursery schools and Baboes moments with a mountain of carpet shapes to explore interactions with children. In the process, she developed a shared performance for parents and young children.
Tapis Partie is an encounter on carpet.
Parents and younger children create and explore a gentle landscape.
Crawl over the mountain, roll over and over again.
Fly around, say hello (with your feet!), make a new friend.
Sit in each other's arms... then briefly on your own carpet island.
A relational journey in music and movement for parents and children.
